David Benesch has been busy working on Version 2.0 of his TiVo Decode Manager. There are quite a few new features and improvements, including the ability to import directly to iTunes. Sweet.
I, on the other hand, have done very little work on the TiVo Decoder Automator action I wrote:
Apart from some UI tweaks, that’s pretty much how it still looks. Unfortunately it’s PowerPC1 only, but I’ve made it available for download for us poor folks stuck on old Macs. If you’re looking for an Intel version, Samuel McConnell whipped one up as well.
UPDATE: How timely. It looks like TiVo has contracted out TiVoToGo for the Mac to Roxio (via).

The output of my Automator action is an Mpeg2 formatted movie, which you can then use in the video editing software of your choice to remove clips.
Hope that helps.
What other hardware do you need to set this up?
Thanks for keeping us older Mac users in the loop. I have not yet jumped on the Intel bandwagon. I have too many old programs that might not run on the newer Macs and don’t feel like repurchasing all my commercial apps again. I tried Roxio 8 Titanium and was not in the least impressed. I have had it hang several times when attempting to transfer from my TiVo to the Mac G4 iMac. I don’t know if it’s because I have an older Mac or just buggy code from Roxio. I originally upgraded because I wanted lightscribe burning and other CD/DVD newer enhancements to my burning software. The added TiVo transfer sold the deal, but for me it’s too tempermental, even when I’m running no other apps it just hangs about 8 out of 10 transfers. It’s worthless to me.
I have a Tivo and have Toast and can download and watch the shows on my PowerBook G4 just fine.
I want to edit them and remove clips – so I need to convert them to MPEG 2 (for QuickTime or iMovie, right?)
Can your program help?
Thanks,
