Longer lines for faster service:
“Whole Foods, the gourmet supermarket, directs customers to form serpentine single lines that feed into a passel of cash registers.”
The multi-line system has been a pet peeve of mine for years. Grocery stores1 and Canadian Customs are the worst offenders.
1 And multi-checkout retail stores in general2.
2 There are a few exceptions — some Old Navy stores, for example.
Single line is definitely better.. we need more les nessman lines on the floor to help us along.
