Finally, what I’ve been waiting for — a consumer camera that uses Foveon technology. Without going into details, the Foveon sensor promises better, more detailed digital pictures. Until now the only camera that’s used it was the very expensive, very professional Sigma SD10.
Polaroid’s new camera probably won’t solve my current camera woes: poor low-light performance, excessive red-eye, and “dust flairs” (artifacts of many compact digital cameras). In fact, it might not even be very good. I’ll curb my enthusiasm until I start to see some reviews. However, if other companies follow Polaroid’s lead then who knows, when it comes time to replace my camera I may have several to choose from. And that’s what I’ve been waiting for.
